If you’re looking for a UK staycation that feels a little different, let me introduce you to Bath. Just two hours from London by train, this beautiful city is one of the only places in Britain where you can soak in natural hot springs. But it’s not just about the spas, Bath is packed with history, stunning architecture, and cosy corners you’ll want to explore all day long.

Here are five things I recommend doing on your visit:

1. Start with a walk by Pulteney Weir and Bridge

This is hands down one of the most picturesque spots in Bath. The way the River Avon curves around the weir is kind of magical, and the bridge itself looks like it belongs in a Jane Austen novel. There are also some lovely little shops and cafés nearby, perfect for a mid-morning coffee stop.

2. Step inside history at the Roman Baths

These ancient baths have been around for over 2,000 years, and they’re still impressively well preserved. You can wander through the old bathing rooms and even see the original Roman plumbing (which is wild). Tickets are around £25, but it’s one of those places you really shouldn’t miss.

3. Pop into Bath Abbey

Right next door to the Baths is Bath Abbey, a stunning medieval church that feels calm and grand all at once. If you’re feeling energetic, climb the 212 steps up to the top of the tower, the view across the city is more than worth it.

4. Treat yourself at Thermae Bath Spa

This is the only place in the UK where you can bathe in natural thermal waters and the rooftop pool is such a dream. You get warm mineral-rich water, steam rising around you, and views over the city rooftops. You can’t take photos inside, but honestly, the experience stays with you.

5. Take a stroll around The Circus

Not an actual circus- The Circus is a perfectly circular street of Georgian townhouses, designed by John Wood the Elder. It’s one of those places where you stop and think, “Wow, people actually live here?” Bath is full of beautiful architecture, but this is one of my favourite bits.

Bonus tip:

If you’ve got time, I’ve heard amazing things about Prior Park Landscape Garden, especially the views and that iconic Palladian bridge. I haven’t been yet, but it’s high on my list for next time.
